#104 Ben Lindbom Sweeps Both Sport Classes At Nationals
Staples, MN. (Jan 23, 2010) – It was absolute bar to bar racing at this weekends AMSOIL Championship Snowcross Series (ACSS) Air Force National in Shakopee, MN. The number 104 of Ben Lindbom energized the crowd with his display of high flying speed to win both the Sport Super Stock classes on his Polaris powered machine.
Sponsored by FXR & Studboy, Ben was all smiles as he stood up on the podium not once but twice in front of an enormous crowd of dedicated snocross fans. The rain did not stop enthusiastic snowmobile fans from all over to come & see some of the best snocross drivers in the world compete. With standing room only on the inside, many fans braved the unusual warm rainy weather in January to stand up close & personal to the action outside. Feeling the excitement of the riders & looking forward to a full day of racing on Saturday, fans were not disappointed as Ben took to the track as the number one qualifier.
In the Sport Super Stock #1 final Ben maintained his control at the start of the Studboy sponsored holeshot down on the field, settling into third position as he came into turn one. However by the time he was heading down the fly way on the flats Ben was closing in fast. By turn two & three, Ben chose the inside lane to snuff out both the first & second position riders to take command of first position as he nailed the triple down the back stretch with high flying action & perfect precision landings to take control of the lead for the next three laps. On lap 3 of the 8 lap final on the back stretch Ben was overtaken to fall back into second position. Ben kept his cool & maintained a control that is mostly reserved for the pro’s. As the two combatants flew by the crowd out on the flats & into the flyway heading for turn number two & three Ben took the inside to make his move & carved out a pass with pro like precision. Once again on the back stretch Ben hammered his way into first position, only this time the determination was to hold on for the win. Something must have sparked, as Ben continued his charge rewarding the rest of the bumper chomping behind him with faster lap times. Holding on for the first place podium finish with his NGK Polaris powered sled, Ben told Meisha Johnson up on the podium that “I just held on to the bars” in answer to the question how did you get here.
In Sport Super Stock #2 the story was much the same with exception that after the Studboy hole shot out on the fly way in front of the fans, Ben overtook the lead & never looked back. Staying out in front with a commanding lead the entire race, Ben was putting on a clinic. By lap number seven he was overtaking some lap traffic as he appeared to be in top form while choosing his lines. Picking fast lines, giving the fans high flying action both on the fly way & out on the back stretch, Ben was determined to sweep his Sport Super Stock classes for the weekend event.
This is one weekend that will go in the books for the Patriot Racing Pro Team. Ben wants to thank all the dedicated fans who came out to watch him in spite of the rain & of course sends out a big thank you to all of his great sponsors… Polaris, FXR, Studboy, NGK, Muller Race Photo’s, Brothers Motorsports, Mark Sand & Gravel, Wide Open Powder Coating, Scheuring Speedsports, Sled Descent.
